“With the national debt now exceeding $36 trillion, Washington’s out-of-control spending is threatening our economy, weakening our national security and placing an unfair burden on future generations. One of my top priorities in Congress is passing my Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, which would require Congress to live within its means, just like every American family and small business must do.
“Our current fiscal path is simply unsustainable for our nation’s economic growth, financial stability and long-term competitiveness. Congress has a constitutional duty to act: bring spending under control, balance the federal budget, modernize entitlement programs, eliminate waste and abuse and pursue pro-growth tax reforms that support working families and small businesses. I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility in Washington and ensure that every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely.”
