BRADENTON, FL – Congressman Vern Buchanan hosted a Service Academy Fair for all local middle and high school students over the weekend. Each year, members of the House and Senate nominate senior high school students they represent for admission to the U.S. Air Force, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval academies. Applicants who meet strict qualifications are interviewed and recommended by a non-partisan Service Academy Board appointed by the Congressman.
“Pleased to speak to these outstanding young men and women about our nation’s prestigious Service Academies,” said Congressman Buchanan. “I wish them the best of luck as they pursue their goal of attending a U.S. Service Academy and serving our country and look forward to their future accomplishments.”
