Millions in Benefits Rightfully Returned to Constituents

BRADENTON, Fla. — Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan announced that his office has recovered $8.1 million in owed benefits and payments from various federal agencies on behalf of Florida’s 16th Congressional District residents through August 2025.

“I am proud to announce that through our office’s casework efforts, my team and I have successfully recovered $8.1 million previously withheld by federal agencies for Florida’s 16th District residents since January 1st,” said Buchanan. “These are benefits that my constituents have earned through years of service, hard work and dedication. Benefits and payments returned to Florida’s 16th District resident include:

  • $6.6 million in owed IRS benefits
  • $1.3 million in owed VA benefits
  • $260,000 in owed Social Security benefits
