Executive Order Will Lower Prices and Help Patients Save Money
“I Applaud President Trump for Putting Patients First”
WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan, Vice Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, released the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order directing the Departments of Treasury, Labor and Health and Human Services to empower patients with transparent health care pricing information:
“Americans have a right to know the true cost of their health care. President Trump’s executive order is a significant step toward empowering patients and making health care more affordable. Increased transparency will increase competition, drive down costs and ensure families aren’t blindsided by unexpected medical bills. After years of the Biden Administration failing to implement the No Surprises Act to protect against surprise medical billing, I applaud President Trump for putting patients first and making our health care system more accountable.”
In addition to being the Vice Chairman and most senior Republican on the powerful U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, Buchanan is also the Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, which has broad jurisdiction over traditional Medicare, the Medicare prescription drug benefit program and Medicare Advantage.
