WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan announced that he has joined the bipartisan DOGE Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. The DOGE Caucus will lead the partnership between Congress and President-elect Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to rein in wasteful spending and make needed cuts to the federal bureaucracy.
“The national debt has surpassed an astounding $36 trillion, yet Congress has not balanced the budget in more than two decades,” said Buchanan. “The federal government wastes hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars annually. For example, federal agencies have reportedly handed out $2.7 trillion in fraudulent, improper payments since 2003—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s beyond time to reign in wasteful spending once and for all and stop the madness. That’s why I am so pleased that President-elect Trump is making this a major focus of his new administration. As a fellow entrepreneur, I’m looking forward to working with Elon, Vivek and Republicans in Congress on this critically important mission.”
The House DOGE Caucus is chaired by Reps. Aaron Bean, Pete Sessions and Blake Moore.
Buchanan has been a strong advocate for legislative solutions that cut wasteful federal spending and address the national debt. Last week, he reintroduced an amendment to the Constitution of the United States (H.J.Res. 3) that requires Congress to balance the federal budget, as he has done continually since first coming to Congress.
