“Today’s Vote Was About Full Transparency, Delivering Answers and Protecting the Victims Who Were Exploited and Trafficked.”

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan released the following statement after voting in favor of the Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405), which passed in the U.S. House of Representatives moments ago:

“The American people deserve the truth about Jeffrey Epstein’s horrific crimes and how he was able to evade justice for so long. Today’s vote was about full transparency, delivering answers and protecting the victims who were exploited and trafficked. The Epstein Files Transparency Act ensures unclassified records are released responsibly while safeguarding victims’ privacy. I’ve long fought to crack down on human trafficking and child exploitation, and I’ll continue doing everything I can to protect the most vulnerable.”

The bipartisan bill requires the Department of Justice to publicly release all unclassified records related to the investigation and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell while protecting victims’ privacy.

Buchanan has long championed efforts to combat human trafficking and child exploitation. He introduced the Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prevention Training Act to educate students and teachers on trafficking risks, as well as the Curbing Realistic Exploitative Electronic Pedophilic Robots (CREEPER) Act 2.0 to stop the sale of lifelike sex dolls resembling children.
