Address Highlighted Renewed American Strength as Nation Approaches 250th Anniversary
WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Vern Buchanan released the following statement after President Trump’s State of the Union address:
“Tonight, President Trump made one thing clear: the American Dream is alive and making a comeback. As we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary, the state of the union is strong and getting stronger because we are putting working families first.
“Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts are already delivering real relief for Floridians. Tax refunds are rising, families are keeping more of their hard-earned paychecks and seniors are seeing historic tax relief. Workers are no longer taxed on tips or overtime, the Child Tax Credit has been strengthened and small businesses finally have the certainty they need to grow.
“Working together, President Trump and House Republicans are rebuilding opportunity, strengthening families and renewing confidence in our future. We are lowering health care costs by investing in rural communities and advancing a prevention-focused approach that empowers Americans to be the CEOs of their own health. We have secured the border, strengthened public safety and refocused government on serving the American people.
