Buchanan Wins Full Committee Approval Of $15.3 Million In Funding For Area Energy And Water Projects

Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-13) has won key approval of federal funding for area energy and water projects.  The Fiscal Year 2009 “Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act” includes $15,323,000 requested by Buchanan for projects to reduce flooding of Wares Creek, improve navigation of Manatee Harbor and Tampa Harbor, enhance our natural resources, and invest in the energy needs of his constituents.

Buchanan Secures $1.5 Million For FL-13 In CJS Appropriations Bill

Congressman Vern Buchanan has secured $1.5 million in federal funding for important projects at Manatee Community College, Sarasota County, in the City of Bradenton and at Mote Marine.  The funding sought by Buchanan was included in the House fiscal year 2009 “Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations Act” approved today by the House Appropriations Committee. 

Buchanan Secures $1 Million For New Sarasota County EOC

Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-13) has secured approval of $1 million in federal funding for a new public safety center in Sarasota County.  The House Fiscal Year 2009 “Homeland Security Appropriations Act” (H.R.      ) passed today by the House Appropriations Committee includes the funding sought by Buchanan to move the County Emergency Operations Center, 911 Consolidated Communications Center , and the Enterprise Information Technology Data Center from the county administration building to a new  facility.

Buchanan Votes To Expand Education Benefits For Veterans

Congressman Vern Buchanan voted last night for a bipartisan bill to expand veterans’ education benefits.  Buchanan is an original cosponsor of the “Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act” (H.R. 5740) to provide U.S. service men and women who have served in active duty since September 11, 2001 with additional education benefits similar to those provided in the original post-World War II G.I. Bill.
